Re: Lyle House: Home for Teens in Need
Kiera growled angrily as she heard someone call out to her from behind. She stopped just for a moment and turned to see Anna.
"Same shit different day." She snapped before she stormed off down the stairs.
In her anger she stormed past Zach, the only other boy still in the house and out into the living room where she waited for breakfast or a stern talking to from Van Drop for "causing a ruckus".

There goes that Kiera girl again... Zach wondered why she always seemed so angry, but he figured that maybe that was just how she was. Figuring that it was probably time for breakfast, he followed Kiera down to the first floor and slowly made his way to the kitchen. I wonder if we'll ever have anything different for breakfast... At the least, he knew that he'd be getting his usual cup of coffee, and that was reassuring.

Re: Lyle House: Home for Teens in Need
Blake watched the world pass by outside from the his parents sedan. He wasn't sure where he was going but he was aware that his parents didn't want him anymore. They called him crazy, immature, and a disgrace to their family name. He had ruined what they called their perfect little family. All he knew of the place where he was going was its name "Lyle House". It sounded more like a bed and breakfast then someplace to take your children when you didn't want them. He put his headphones back on that seemed to follow him everywhere and cranked up the volume. He would do what he always did and subject himself to another long term treatment of solitude before he let his feelings get to him.

The alarm went off just ass Anna watched Keira stomp off down the stairs. Anna spun on her heals and ran over slamming her hand down on the off button of the alarm. Anna sighed and sat back onto her bed. 'Same shit different day.' Keria had said.
"Yea thats a help.." She mumbled looking at the wall. She noticed Kat had not stirred at the sound of the alarm. The girl had to have been tired to not even move during that annoying sound. She figured she would let the girl sleep and bring her something up to wake her before group. She headed for the door.
"Hi" Anna called to the boy sitting on the stairs as she walked by. She stopped and waked over to get a better look at him. "I am Anna, I don't believe we met last night?" she smiled at him
Mrs. Talbot heard a car pull up out front.
"The new boy must be here" she called to Miss Van Drop and started her wait out to greet him. Miss Van Drop continued setting the breakfast up for the teens. Along the snack bar in the kitchen Miss Van Drop had set a healthy meal, just like everything else in the house, for the teens. Fresh cut fruits sat in different bowls, a bunch of banana's hung from a stand, cottage and cream cheese sat out with spoons beside them. A pile of warm wheat pancakes sat beside 4 different home made jellies with butter to the other side. The teens were not allowed to have syrup so Miss Van Drop had poured small cups of corn syrup to use. It was a little better then the others but they were still only allowed to have a small cup per 2 pancakes. She sat a bottle of orange juice and another of milk beside the food and turned to get silverware, pates, and cups for the children.
Mrs. Talbot walked down the path to meet the boy and his parents.
"Mr. and Mrs. Sutter," she greeted the couple as they crawled out of the car. The boy was out last and made his way up after Mrs. Talbot had shook his parents hands.
"Blake? I am Mrs. Talbot, I am the house manager here. Why don't we get your things inside and you all signed in so you can sit and have breakfast with the other kids." The Sutter's already were pulling the boys bags out of the car.
Mrs. Talbot helped the boy take his things inside, his parents had already said goodbye and left before they were even half way up the walk.

Re: Lyle House: Home for Teens in Need
Zach blinked as the girl named Anna talked to him. I wonder why she's here... Personality wise, she seems to be the complete opposite of that Kiera girl. "You can call me Zach. Last night, no we didn't meet, but I've been in this place for a while now. I don't think we've talked before," he replied to the girl as he stared back at her. There had to be a reason why this girl seemed to be so friendly towards others, but he didn't know what that reason was. If what Kiera had been talking about was true, it didn't matter if they were all friends or not.

Re: Lyle House: Home for Teens in Need
"Well nice to met you Zach, are you coming down for breakfast? I guess we all have to go to this group crap but yea.." she huffed. She had learn a long time ago to at least give people a chance even if that was not her typical personality. After what Kiera had told her last night, Anna felt like the only way to get out of here was to get along with these kids and plan an escape sooner or later.
Anna turned and started to walk away.
"I guess I will see you around" she waved and walked away. Her stomach was grumbling its own remarks. She was ready for some food...
She looked around and made sure no one was in the hall then turned and made her way back to Zach. She climbed up and sat on the other side of the stair below him. When she spoke her voice was low.
"So is it true? You have a unnatural power too? That Kiera girl said we all do.." she looked Zach in the eyes. She felt kind of bad for him, his eyes were sad and she really didn't know why.

Zach looked down at the girl and blinked again. "Yeah, she told me the same thing, and yes, I do have a power of sorts," he muttered quietly in reply to Anna. "Is it much longer until breakfast? I'm getting a little tired of waiting, but I don't think everyone's awake yet. Kiera already went downstairs, so I suppose we could follow her and see what she's up to." He stood up and walked down the remaining steps that kept him above the second floor, proceeding to go down the stairs to the first floor.

"Not to much longer." She said and stood after him. Half way down the first floor stairs, you could smell the scent of pancakes wafting threw the house. Anna made her way past Zach at the bottom of the stairs. She placed herself on a pillowed recliner beside the window and waited for breakfast to be called.
Anna looked around the room and then took her gaze to what was going on outside. Mrs. Talbot was helping a new boy with his bags up the walk. She wondered what he was here for. 'And what his power is' she found herself thinking.

Re: Lyle House: Home for Teens in Need
Zach saw that Anna had chosen to sit by a window and that she was looking at something outside. He could see that the staff was helping a boy with his belongings. I guess there'll be a new boy staying here... At least I won't be as outnumbered by the girls anymore. "Did you see where Kiera went off to?" Zach asked Anna, figuring that she might've seen Kiera since she got down first.

Re: Lyle House: Home for Teens in Need
Kiera stormed out into the back yard before any of the other kids and come down the stairs. She kicked a stone as she grumbled. 'This place can't hold me forever...' She growled in thought. 'I will get the hell out of here one way or another...'
Her gaze flickered over to the cameras on the fence as only part of her recognized that a new car pulled into the driveway that would ultimately be handing off another kid for the tests. She wondered, not for the first time, what exactly they wanted from the powers. Were they turning them into weapons? Finding out the genetics to give to the military? Or even just the public? Would there be mass panic from the public if they found out there were teens who really had "special powers"? Or would they try to exploit those "new gifts"? Would the crime rate shoot sky high or would the police be given means to combat the "powers" once they were release? Or were they just hording the gifts to themselves?
One thing was for sure, Kiera knew that there were other facilities that were testings the "Gifted Teens" as they were being called. Her mind wondered if it was all government funded to make some new "super soldiers" seeing as the last time they attempted something like that it failed miserably. Giving soldiers the gifts some of the kids had that came through here would turn America into a super power; a country to never be messed with. The idea should have frightened her, but it only made her sad as she thought about the kids she knew in the first round through here.
Kids like Jasmine, who's gifts really did make her insane, they had been too much too handle. Or Anthony and his phasing, how many secure places could that power get someone into? And of course there were the deadly powers, human combustion, Elemental control, the control of the human electricity, and so many more that she knew would be perfect for military combatants.
Kiera's own gift would be a powerful weapon if VanDrop or Davidoff even knew how much her powers had grown in strength and control. She was getting better, going further, learning more with every use of her gift. She could lose herself forever in the maze of technology if she really wanted, never coming back to her human body.
It was a pleasant thought, being free of emotions and the constrictions of the flesh. She filled the thought away for later use, maybe that would be her only means of escape...

Before Anna could answer, Zach went about checking the other rooms of the first floor to see where Kiera had gone, but he couldn't find her. Figuring that she'd probably turn up for breakfast like everyone else, he went to the kitchen and sat down at the breakfast table. He wondered why Kiera didn't like being around him or any of the other kids, but he didn't really like to socialize either. Zach only socialized with someone if they piqued his curiosity and if he wanted to figure out more about the person. I wonder just how long that Kiera girl has been here...

Re: Lyle House: Home for Teens in Need
Kiera kicked up a rock and began to play hacky-sack with it. Watching as it bounced from foot to foot. Numbers and letters ran through her mind as her brain continued to pick apart the security code for the alarm and camera system set up at the Lyle house; she was getting better at remote tap ins to any tech system.
Finally she kicked up the rock and sent it sailing over the fence, only to watch all the cameras suddenly turn and follow the rock, she was sure it had set off the silent alarm in Van Drop's office. She wouldn't come running yet though, she was with the new kid and wouldn't see the alarm until after she got the boy settled in.
She sighed as she leaned against the pristine painted wall of the house, everything about this place was "pristine" in hopes to make it more inviting, but once someone got in they soon found out just how uninviting it was...

Re: Lyle House: Home for Teens in Need
As Zach sat waiting at the breakfast table wondering about multitudes of various things, he once again remembered that he needed to find someone that could help him fix his room's ceiling. Maybe Kiera knows of someone with a power that could fix it... Figuring that she was probably outside since she wasn't in any of the rooms, Zach got up and ventured to the back yard, and sure enough, he found Kiera playing hackysack with a rock. He watched as she kicked the rock over the fence and watched as the all of the security cameras turned to watch it too. "Why are you outside?" he asked her.

Re: Lyle House: Home for Teens in Need
Kiera's eyes flickered over to the person who had walked outside, it was Zach.
"Better to be out here than in there." She answered as she kicked up another rock and began the hackysack all over again. "Being outside is the little bit of freedom offered to us in this place. In there is the reminder of how caged we are. Out here there is just a slight chance of freedom, though truthfully we are like caged birds given the chance to see freedom but never grasp it. A better life for all of us is just outside that fence, and with the illusion of lax security we all think we can leave whenever we want to, but it's all a lie."
Kiera sighed as she fell silent and kicked the rock around.

"Technically I could melt that fence and escape. It'd be quiet so no one would hear, but it'd take too long to do," Zach said as he watched her play another round of hackysack. "I bet that you're trying to find a way to escape... What exactly do you know...? How much do you know...?"
Zach leaned against the wall of the house and pulled his hood over his face to block the sun from his eyes. Everyone in this place was certainly quite strange, and he figured that he'd never get bored with so many 'colorful' people around. I wonder if anyone has ever thought of escaping, escaped, and gotten away with it... Well, they'd probably hunt down escapees, so it'd be hard to do.

Kiera smirked at Zach as she let the rock drop to the ground. "Melting everything would set off the alarm which would have everyone and their tranquilizers on us like flies to honey... We would never make it past the yard."
Kiera sighed and shook her head. "Escaping this place will be a lot harder than that..."

"Then I guess I'm just stuck here for who knows how long, huh?" Zach muttered as he closed his eyes. I wonder if she's tried to escape before. I guess it'd be easier to escape if you had a power that made you hard to catch... like teleportation or something. Zach wondered what Kiera would do if someone with a power like that were to be brought to the house. He figured that she'd probably try to coax that person into escaping with her.
"Say, do you know if anyone here has a power that can help me with some ceiling repair...?"

Kiera gazed at Zach with a slight smirk on her lips. "Did you melt your ceiling...? If that's the case there's no one that I know of who can fix that, though there is always the possibility that you can learn your power backwards and just... unmelt your ceiling. But if it's just damaged I'm sure Huck or the new guy could help you patch up the hole..."

"It's more like I accidentally melted it a bit so now it looks like the ceiling of a cave," Zach replied before yawning a bit. "What kind of powers does everyone have? I bet you know since you liked to probe the computers or whatever."

Kiera sighed and pushed herself off the wall.
"All I really know is yours, Anna's and mine... Liz and Huck are just here because Davidoff wanted it to really look like this place was for the "insane". Anna can see the dead, maybe talk to them, but her file was very vague. I don't know anything about the problem child that showed up yesterday, there was no file on her. I could make a guess from what had happened yesterday with the cops, I would say it's something with telekinesis but that's my guess... And the new once that showed up today... I know nothing about him or her... Dr. Gill erased her files from her computer today, there wasn't one on the new boy yet, but I'm sure she has it on paper somewhere..."
Kiera turned to look at Zach. "Does that help...?"

Zach looked at Kiera from under his hood. "I don't know if that helps or not... I was just curious," Zach said before looking away and down at the ground. "You've probably thought of escaping from here, huh? Have you ever tried?" Zach noticed that there was a snail on the ground that was trying to reach the shade in order to prevent itself from drying up. This snail probably has more freedom than we do even if it's in the same place as we are.

Re: Lyle House: Home for Teens in Need
Kiera followed Zach's line of sight and saw the snail. Gently she bent down and plucked it up by it's shell and began walking it over to the shade.
"I've thought about it... and even attempted it once... What feels like a lifetime ago... That's actually why the cameras are there now..." Kiera set the snail down gently on the cool grass. "It failed miserably, I was locked away from almost a year until I played submissive... Now I'm trying again, but it's taken some time due to the security code on the cameras and alarm system... It's not been easy to crack."

Zach watched Kiera move the snail. "Well, I'm no tech-guru, so I can't really help with that," he muttered. I wonder why she helped that snail... "Wouldn't it be easier to escape with the help of someone with a power more suitable for escaping? Like maybe someone with invisibility or something." Zach had never seen someone that could become invisible, but he supposed a power like that could exist.

Kiera stood up and looked at Zach, tilting her head to one side.
"It would be easier that way, but teens with that ability never make it into the Lyle house... They go straight to testing... or Solitary confinement... They don't make it here..."

"I'm not sure how they'd even catch someone with an ability like that... You'd think that they'd be able to escape capture easily," Zach muttered as he closed his eyes. If he had had an ability like invisibility, he could've probably been able to take better care of his little brother, but he got his powers when his brother passed away, not before then. If maybe he had gotten powers long before then and they were something more helpful, he could've been able to take care of his brother, but it's too late now. "Kiera, do you have any siblings?"
